Urban Edge to Receive Funding from Wells Fargo Grant to Support Homeownership Programming

Funds from Wells Fargo will serve to support programs for low-and-moderate-income families

(Boston, MA) – Urban Edge announced today it was awarded a $30,000 grant from The Wells
Fargo Housing Foundation to support the organizations’ wealth-building programs for low and
moderate income (LMI) families. Urban Edge, a nonprofit community development organization
based in Roxbury, is dedicated to strengthening communities through the creation of and
advocacy for affordable housing.

Urban Edge not only builds affordable housing but offers programming on topics related to
homeowner services, finance, and tax assistance to support LMI households. This programing
includes courses such as Credit Counseling Boot Camp, and Family Self-Sufficiency program.
One of the largest programs offered, First-Time Home Buying 101, provides prospective
homebuyers the knowledge they need to secure the right home and best loan. Since 2006
Urban Edge has also been providing foreclosure prevention counseling to homeowners at risk
from 15 Boston neighborhoods and 60 other Massachusetts cities and towns.

“It is an honor to be a recipient of the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Grant and we thank
Wells Fargo for continuing to support critical programming within our communities,” said Emilio
Dorcely, CEO of Urban Edge. “In order to create a vibrant and thriving city, we must ensure that
everyone, including those traditionally left out of conversations concerning economic mobility,
has the opportunity and knowledge available to them to build wealth. This grant will ensure that
our team is able to continue providing these vital programs.”

The programming created and offered by Urban Edge support LMI individuals and families
interested in building wealth through first time homeownership purchase, improve their credit,
avoid foreclosure, and increase their income and savings.
